The city of Cadiz is perhaps one of the oldest cities in the western part of Europe, occupied since more than 3000 years; in the city settled the Iberians, Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, Visigoths, and other cultures to the present day.
Cadiz has always enjoyed a good health regarding trade and seafaring; this is due in large part to its geographical location and its proximity to the African continent, with which the city formed good relationships in this area.
Specifically, the city of Cadiz has a population of around 120,000 inhabitants, whose Andalusian province of the same name covers some 7,300 km2, with a coastline that is well over 200 kilometres.

As in other parts of Spain such as Malaga, Merida and Tarragona, in Cadiz were discovered the remains of a Roman theatre located very close to the Cathedral of Cadiz, which are certainly two mandatory stops during your visit. If you are looking for churches to visit, there is the church of San Felipe Neri, closely linked to Napoleon, and the church of Santa Cruz.
Other attractions to visit, after resting in the quiet square of San Antonio, are the Museum of Cadiz in the Plaza de Mina full of trees and the mansions of Casa de la Cadenas and Casa del Almirante. The Tavira watchtower of 45 metres height, without reaching a high altitude appears to be the highest point in the city. If you like to surround yourself with nature do not hesitate to visit the park Genoves; if you walk it from north to south you will find very close to the exit of the park, the Castle of Santa Catalina.
Also highly recommended is be seen at the San Sebastian Castle, joined in a very peculiar road (see the below photo).
